Roaring River State Park is proud of its wintering bald eagle population. Watch a video in the nature center about bald eagles in Missouri, then go outside to watch for bald eagles coming in to roost for the night. Bring binoculars and dress warm.
This program on Ozark legends, tales of the supernatural and folklore is held in the amphitheater. The unique history and the culture of the Ozarks are examined through superstition, customs, tales, stories and legends, as well as a good bit of local humor. Also, there will be a story about the Mountain Maid of Roaring River. Wear clothing suitable for the weather.
Enjoy a four-mile hike through the 2,075-acre Roaring River Hills Wild Area and a portion of Roaring River Cove-Hardwood Natural Area during the height of fall colors. Wear hiking shoes, bring water and a sack lunch or snack. The hike will also tour.
Learn new outdoor skills or enhance your existing ones during this outdoor recreation school held at Roaring River State Park. Classes range from outdoor cooking to rappelling for ages 9-adult. There are family classes and the Kids Camp is open to kids ages 4-8. Registration begins Aug. 20 and ends Sept. 24. For more information, visit the website.
