Fishing and Hunting
If you enjoy the strike of a trout or the call of wild turkey, you're going to love Missouri.
Places to fish, hunt and enjoy the outdoor life are waiting for you everywhere in the state. Spin-cast anglers and fly-fishermen have amazing sprawling lakes and winding streams to explore, many with convenient public access. Whether you are in pursuit of black bass, catfish, crappie, muskellunge, rainbow and brown trout, walleye or white bass, there are enough trophy-sized fish to keep you coming back.
Fee-fishing lakes and streams also can provide excellent fishing action. If you are interested in finding out more information about the fishing prospects for this year, bookmark Department of Conservation Fishing. The Missouri Department of Conservation's Web pages on fishing include detailed prospects for 23 streams, 83 rivers and four trout parks. You also can check out the state fishing records and see illustrations of the fish. If you are fishing by boat, please be familiar with Missouri's New Boating Law. Missouri, a state widely known for abundant white-tailed deer and wild turkey, is a hot spot for hunting. Almost 3 million acres of state and federal lands are open to hunting big and small game and waterfowl. A number of fee-hunting preserves offer additional opportunities. For more information, check out Department of Conservation Hunting.
