It's thrilling...it's chilling...it's Halloween at Missouri Town 1855. Only luminaries light the way in this eerie 1850s village. Walk through the moonlit town, if you dare, and hear spine-tingling tales more than a century old. Wood fires burn and witches’ cauldrons churn. Children's games; storytelling around bonfires; trick-or-treating; and haunted hayrides are just a part of the spooktastic time awaiting you.

New Madrid

Take part in actual paranormal investigations at some of New Madrid's most haunted locations. Two-hour walking tours each evening, rain or shine, 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Cameras are welcome. Space is very limited; reservations are required. Please note that ghosts don't always come out on cue, so paranormal activity is not guaranteed. Tickets: $10/person. Special group tours are available throughout the year for a minimum of 10 people.

Eminence

Wander back into time at Alley Spring's annual festival of storytelling, music and traditional crafts. Traditional storytellers will weave their spells around you in the darkness of a fall evening. During the day, enjoy demonstrations of traditional Ozark crafts and lifestyles from the 1800s. There is live music, food and lots to see and do. Bring a blanket or chair to sit on.

The Haunting is the same weekend as the big Craft Show in Eminence, so be sure to catch both and make a full weekend of it. Alley Spring is located six miles west of Eminence, on Route 106.

Featuring cutting-edge animatronics: monsters, ghouls and creepy things. Travel through the Ozark cemetery, monster asylum, ghostly castle and crypts where things go bump in the night and scare the dickens out of you. The haunted house shares a lobby with Branson's Dinosaur Museum. Visitors may purchase a combo ticket to both attractions. Admission: $14; age 13-17, $11; ages 4-12, $9.
