You could spend several days exploring St. Louis, but you might miss the game. That wouldn’t be good. Use this guide as a primer for some of the cool things you can see, do and taste before the Cardinals take the field at Busch Stadium.
Sightseeing
A. Missouri Botanical Garden
You're sure to have a great time watching the Cardinals play at Busch Stadium, but before you do, stop to smell the roses. Literally. Missouri Botanical Garden has79 acres of gardens and historic structures, including the Climatron, which replicates a tropical rain forest habitat.
B. The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis
After spending time at Missouri Botanical Garden, enjoy the intricate mosaics and craftsmanship of Cathedral Basilica, home to the largest collection of mosaic art in the western hemisphere. The Cathedral is open daily for masses and self-guided tours.The lower level holds the Mosaic Museum, containing displays showing how mosaics are designed and applied.
C. Saint Louis Art Museum
From Cathedral Basilica, it's a short drive back to the west, through beautiful Forest Park, to see the Saint Louis Art Museum. General admission is free. Stop to take in a view of Art Hill before stepping inside to see the breathtaking collection of art.
D. The Gateway Arch
Although the grounds are the focus of an ongoing construction project, you can still take a tram ride to the top of the Gateway Arch for a panoramic view of St. Louis and the surrounding area. You might even be able to see the home team taking batting practice as you peer down into Busch Stadium. Get your tickets for the Arch tour at The Old Courthouse, a National Landmark and site of the Dred Scott Freedom Trial.
Food and Drink
A. Budweiser Brewery Experience and The Biergarten
Few products are as closely intertwined with baseball as Budweiser, and on this tour, you'll learn more about the iconic beer maker's history. The famous Budweiser Clydesdales' stables are a popular stop for tour-goers of all ages. Although all ages are welcome on the tours, you must be 21 or older to sample beer.
B. Bogart’s Smokehouse – St. Louis
Bogart's Smokehouse is situated near the famous Soulard Market and just a two-mile drive to Busch Stadium. But don't wait until the last minute; Bogart's is a popular place and when they sell out of food, they close.
