A. The Glenn House
Built in 1883 for a prominent local family, the Glenn House was a private residence until 1915. Today, visitors can tour the home to see what life in 1900s Missouri was like. Carefully restored to its former glory, the house still has many original features.
B. Red House Interpretive Center
Travel back in time to the early 1800s when Lewis and Clark visited Cape Girardeau. Exhibits detail the visit and explain what the community looked like during the time. The building itself is a recreation of the home of the city’s founder, Louis Lorimier.
C. Fort D Historic Site
Military history aficionados will gravitate to this Civil War-era fort. Of the four forts that were constructed around Cape Girardeau, Fort D is the only one remaining. Living history demonstrations are held twice each year, but you can take a free, self-guided tour at any time.
