Stroll down Cape Girardeau’s Broadway Corridor to look at the attention-grabbing sculptures that decorate the nine-block stretch. Each year the sculptures are replaced with new exhibits, making the city an ever-changing art installation.

Drive the route that Hollywood stars frequented when they came to Cape Girardeau in 2013 to film the movie Gone Girl. Check out the filming locations and the cast and crew’s favorite gathering spots.

C. Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center

A. Discovery Playhouse – A Children’s Museum

Your child’s imagination will run wild in the unique, interactive spaces at Discovery Playhouse. The first floor is dedicated to children under 8 years old, and the second floor was created for those 8 years old and up.

B. Cape Splash Family Aquatic Center

Splash around at an outdoor waterpark that people of all ages will enjoy. Thrill seekers can fly down the slides or try the mat race. Laid-back types will appreciate the 700-foot long lazy river.

C. Melaina’s Magical Playland

Specifically designed to give children of all ability levels the opportunity to play together, this public playground really is magical. Ramps and smooth, rubber surfacing are wheelchair friendly, and specialized equipment ensures all children are able to play.

A. The Glenn House

Built in 1883 for a prominent local family, the Glenn House was a private residence until 1915. Today, visitors can tour the home to see what life in 1900s Missouri was like. Carefully restored to its former glory, the house still has many original features.

B. Red House Interpretive Center

Travel back in time to the early 1800s when Lewis and Clark visited Cape Girardeau. Exhibits detail the visit and explain what the community looked like during the time. The building itself is a recreation of the home of the city’s founder, Louis Lorimier.

C. Fort D Historic Site

Military history aficionados will gravitate to this Civil War-era fort. Of the four forts that were constructed around Cape Girardeau, Fort D is the only one remaining. Living history demonstrations are held twice each year, but you can take a free, self-guided tour at any time.

Located in a building built in 1891, Minglewood Brewery is committed to handcrafting flavorful beers. But beyond the brews, the menu is full of mouthwatering sandwiches, pizzas and appetizers.
