The 429-acre Myron and Sonya Glassberg Family Conservation Area is in north-central Jefferson County, about six miles south of Eureka.
This property helps maintain and enhance the ecological and recreational values of the LaBarque Creek Watershed, which supports a high quality stream system and diverse plant communities.
The watershed lies in northwest Jefferson County and consists of 13 square miles of land with more than half being publicly owned and more than 86 percent of the area remaining forested.
As a result of the low level of development in the watershed and the protection efforts, the creek continues to support 52 species of fish.
A series of old roads provides a trail system of 1.5 miles and an additional hiking trail (0.5 mile) surrounds the fishing lake. A monument recognizing the donation from the Glassberg family is located near the parking lot on the main entrance trail to the area.
Fishing permitted. Biking prohibited.
