Arcadia Valley is Missouri’s best kept secret. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, history buff, food junky, or simply enjoy beautiful scenery, you must make time for the valley! Just a 90 minute drive from St. Louis, Arcadia Valley (incorporating the three towns or Arcadia, Ironton and Pilot Knob) is a scenic wonderland that you’ll want to visit time and time again! With three state parks (Elephant Rocks, Johnson Shut-ins, Taum Sauk Mountain) and Fort Davidson Historic Site within 20 minutes of each other, excellent dining, hiking trails, kayaking, historic buildings, biking, camping and the like, you’ll have a great day trip or weekend getaway in the valley. The valley hosts the popular Arcadia Valley Barbeque Battle and our Chalk Festival in June; the Mountain Music Festivals in May and October; the Lion’s Club Rodeo in August; and Christmas In The Valley in December. During the summer, enjoy local musical talent on the weekends at our restaurants or at our local entertainment venues.
In 2021 Shepherd Mountain Bike Park had its grand opening. It has quickly become considered one of the top downhill mountain bike parks in the country. You can check it out here in visitmo.com.
If you like the nostalgic notion of taking the train, our quaint Arcadia Valley Station is one of the nicest depots on the Amtrak line. Running from Chicago to San Antonio, with stops in St. Louis, the Texas Eagle stops at our station twice daily. So whether you come by train, car or motorcycle, come to Arcadia Valley for some of the most scenic countryside in Missouri.
