Ozark Heritage Welcome Center

See Photo Location

The Ozark Heritage Welcome Center is a MO Affiliate Welcome Center, owned and operated by the City of West Plains. The center offers all types of free information including a 112-page “Explore West Plains” guide book filled with things to do in and around West Plains, including day-trip routes for enjoying our beloved and beautiful Ozark mills, springs and scenery; self-guided history and mural tour; art and attractions information; event calendar; information about the community;  famous West Plainsians biographies; and a Porter Wagoner trail.

The center also has murals, inside and out, and two chainsaw sculptures in the roadside park which surrounds the facility. One sculpture features Porter Wagoner’s guitar and the other honors our Major League Baseball players Preacher Roe, Bill Virdon, and Tedd Gullic, all who were past residents of West Plains.

The center’s gift shop sells West Plains and Ozarks-themed souvenirs including apparel, stickers, magnets, mugs, and post cards, along with locally made items and other retail merchandise. A dump station is on site, with a $2 donation requested for use. Make us your first stop when visiting south-central Missouri!
