This area, in a remote section of the Ozarks, provides hikers, backpackers and equestrians access to the solitude of Missouri’s largest undeveloped area. At 60,000 acres, Roger Pryor Pioneer Backcountry contains 70 miles of trail and nearly 15 miles of Current River frontage.
The trails are managed by Echo Bluff State Park, which forms a portion of the backcountry’s western border. The backcountry also shares a border with Current River State Park. All three properties are connected by the area’s extensive trails network.
